it’s been a while…

since i last blogged. we’ve been here there and everywhere these past few weeks. i must be honest and say that living out of a suitcase is not my cup of tea. between jacksonville, orlando, chicago and jacksonville again i’m pretty worn out. (ie. slept for 12 hours last night) scott and i had a really great break though. we got to spend a few days with staff friends in orlando which is always so fun and then we flew to chicago to be with my friend Ashley and her family which was so great and then back home to have thanksgiving with the fam! it was a whirlwind couple of weeks but so so fun.

i would post pictures but my computer camera chord is kind of broken and i’m having a new one sent so soon i will post pictures from the last couple of weeks!  i hope all of you had a wonderful thanksgiving and seeing family and friends was refreshing for you!

the little chick.

one of the little treasures i found at goodfinds this past weekend was a little pink wind up chick. it hops and has bunny ears and is quite cute. when i saw it on the shelf i immediately thought “cheap and fun entertainment for maggie.” and cheap and fun it is! maggie loves this thing and goes nuts when i bring it out wind it up!  i’ve never seen her go so crazy over something. scott and i are probably more entertained watching her go so crazy over it than she is about the actual chick. i snapped some pics of her with it so you can see what it looks like.

this is her in the yard this afternoon staring down the neighborhood cat. i imagine she wanted to annihilate it but the fence kept her from attack. she is quite the hunter.

dinner party #2.

we are all about parties at casa de skatie. my mom, sister, aunt nancy and alyssa came in town this weekend. i hadn’t been with family since my sister got engaged back in september so it had been too long. they got here on friday night and i had ina’s infamous potato leek soup warming on the stove and an inviting table scape to dine at all ready! it was such a fun and relaxing weekend and i wish it didn’t have to end. why DO all good things have to come to an end? after dinner we stopped in to see my friends singing/playing at a restaurant bar place in midtown and grabbed some coffee from our local fave, red eye. my sister was also craving crepes so we stopped in at crepe vine and inhaled some yummy-ness. fruit, whip cream and nutella…how bad can that be? ;)

saturday we went to thomasville and walked around their little town center and hopped in and out of antique shops and little boutiques. i took them to my favorite little place, Goodfinds, and we found some treasures of course.

we ate dinner at kool beanz cafe in midtown saturday night and had a delish meal. their menu is always amazing and everything we’ve ever had has been so great! scott said their gnocchi was as delicious as the kind he ate in italy. hello. that says something.

we grabbed lunch today at pitaria and walked around lake ella and then bon voyage back to jacksonville :(

it was such a fun fun weekend and i loved having them. come back and visit again!

tallahassee is finally cold enough for boots, jackets and scarves. i love love love it!!

(here’s a picture of the table before dinner :) )

a dinner party.

tonight we had friends caleb and karlie over for dinner and it was just one of those nights that you want to remember. not because anything spectacular happened but because it was so enjoyable. we sat outside on the back deck and had a yummy meal. the christmas lights and candles lit up our table and we had great conversation. our time wasn’t hurried and it was just an enjoyable and fun time with friends.

aren’t they cute ;) ?

i encourage you to have a slow and enjoyable dinner with friends and do so outside while it’s still nice!

halloween was so fun this year! we had 50-60 students over at our house, the jams were pumpin and the dancing was crazy! everyone took their costumes pretty seriously and we had some really creative ones. scott and i dressed up as lawrence welk and baby hands from the snl skit and if you know it you laughed, if you don’t you were creeped out. but thats ok :) how did you celebrate halloween? here are some pictures from the night..

radical.

“The American dream radically differs from the call of Jesus and the essence of the Gospel… God actually delights in exalting our inability.” The American dream emphasizes upward mobility, but success in the kingdom of God involves moving down, not up.”

ahhhh, so convicting.

ps. halloween pics coming later!

in the meantime, i suggest you watch this to be prepared.
